Emergency Medical Services Names New EmCare President and COO

Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS) ("EMSC" or the "Company") today announced the appointment of James Murphy as President and Chief Operating Officer of its EmCare subsidiary, effective immediately. Mr. Murphy is based at the EmCare corporate offices in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Murphy joined EmCare in 1993 as regional vice president, and has served as Executive Vice President since 2001. In his new role, he has overall operational responsibility for EmCare and its operating divisions.

In addition to his extensive experience with EmCare, Mr. Murphy has more than 20 years of hospital administration experience. Mr. Murphy earned his bachelor's degree from Truman University and he holds a master's degree from the University of Iowa.
