World Renowned Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center at Los Angeles Jewish Home Unveils Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver Support Group Open to Public

RESEDA, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center at the Los Angeles Jewish Home has unveiled the Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver Support Group which is open to the public. The program is aimed at helping non-professionals who are shouldering the responsibility of caring for a loved one afflicted by those diseases.

There is no charge for the program, which is being made possible through the support of the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation. There are two groups. The daytime support group meets on the first and third Monday of the month from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at the Home's Eisenberg Village Campus located at 18855 Victory Boulevard in Reseda. The evening group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on the Grancell Village Campus located at 7150 Tampa Avenue, also in Reseda. These groups provide extensive time for attendees to spend with experienced facilitators as well as time for updates regarding various aspects of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

The Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center is a premier, award-winning, state-of-the-art facility at the Home featuring many of the most effective methods and programs focused on helping those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and age-related dementia. "Often times our family members find it difficult to make sense of dementia and the behaviors that accompany the diagnosis. It is a lonely journey without the support of others who have been there," said Susan Leitch, community manager for the Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center. "Our support groups provide a relaxed, confidential atmosphere where fellow caregivers can exchange experience, methods of dealing with unique behaviors, and share the latest information about available services and medical research."
