French Nobel Prize Winner in Cambodia Promotes Research into HIV/ AIDS

France Promotes Its Cooperation with Cambodia in the Medical Field

Phnom Penh, October 9, 2008 AKP –

Visiting French Nobel Prize Winner Mrs Francoise Barre Sinoussi met with Cambodian Minister of Health H.E. Dr Mam Bun Heng on Oct. 7 in Phnom Penh.

Ms Sinoussi told Dr Mam Bun Heng of her visit, the purpose of which, she said, is to promote the research efforts in medical field and help provide HIV/AIDS anti-viral to children living with this disease.

Related to HIV/AIDS research, the 2008 French Nobel Prize winner said the research is not sufficient due to the lack of budget for new researchers.

In reply, the Cambodian minister of Health congratulated Ms Sinoussi on having won the Nobel Prize and expressed warm welcome and support to her initiative in reinforcing the cooperation in the medical field between the two governments. – AKP
