THESE incredible pictures show in minute detail a series of fascinating images that are invisible to the naked eye.

Using microscopes and digital imaging software, photographers are able to capture close-ups of a chick embryo, a snowflake, and the scales of a moth.

Dubbed photomicrography, the technique is celebrated in Nikon’s Small World competition. You can vote for the winner at www.nikonsmallworld.com.
