Health Centre Wins Backing
Work on a health centre could start early next year.
Oakapple Primary Care and Gladedale Homes have won unanimous backing for a health centre and housing at land off Portland Drive in Scholar Green.
Of the 56 proposed houses, 17 would be affordable and 14 low- cost, as required by Congleton Council. One of the conditions they have imposed is that the health centre should be built before the houses are occupied.
The Portland Drive plans prompted more than 300 letters of support.
But the council received an objection from the Scholar Green Greenfields Association, who wanted an alternative health centre built on land owned by Colin Ashley.
Mr Ashley’s plans for the site off Congleton Road North were approved earlier this year but will no longer go ahead after the Portland Drive proposals were passed.
