Library Benefit ‘From The Top’ ‘Dining With The Stars’ ‘Sentimental Journey’
The Milanof-Schock Library will hold its Sixth Annual Benefit Auction and Dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Groff's Farm Golf Club, 650 Pinkerton Road, Mount Joy.
The reception menu will include fresh melon and prosciutto, grilled shrimp with cocktail sauce, and croustade with shaved flank steak and red onion marmalade.
Silent and live auctions will be featured.

Lancaster Symphony Orchestra will hold its fifth annual "From the Top" gala auction in support of the Sound Discovery Gift of Music program. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Willow Valley Resort & Conference Center, 2416 Willow Street Pike.
Dinner will be served after a cocktail hour in the resort's Palm Court. Menu will include Painted Salad, which includes hearts of palm served in a radicchio cup with balsamic ginger vinaigrette and garnished with pear tomato and baby mixed greens tossed with fried won tons; grilled filet mignon Forester, a rosemary-rubbed filet over wild mushroom ragout; Louisiana crab cake served with a remoulade accompanied by summer squash napoleon, fresh basil, plum tomato and roasted new potatoes; and, for dessert, a chocolate piano filled with white chocolate raspberry mint mousse
The Gift of Music Program puts instruments into the hands of students who are not able to afford the rental and maintenance costs on their own.
Tickets - $1,000 for a table for eight, $150 per "patron" and $100 per "friend" - are available by calling the symphony's office at 291-6440, ext. 235.
Silent movie glamour lives again Saturday, Oct. 25, when the New Holland Band hosts "Dining With the Stars," at 6 p.m. at Willow Valley Resort & Conference Center's Palm Court, 2416 Willow Street Pike.
Dinner, an auction of band-related items and packages, and the screening of two Buster Keaton classic silent shorts, accompanied by a live score will highlight the evening.
The menu includes fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken, salad and apple pie Vegetarian alternatives will be available. Cost is $30; call Rodger Anderson, 682-2194, by Oct. 20. Susquehanna Valley Couples Connection will host a "Sentimental Journey Dinner Party" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Timbers Dinner Theatre, 350 Timber Road, Mount Gretna. Dinner, which includes a buffet of roast beef, roast turkey, country ham and veal, will kick off with punch served at 6:40 p.m.
A special feature of the evening will be "Travel to Paradise on the Strasburg Rail Road," with Joe Wells, longtime conductor with the railroad. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Ken Markley, psychologist and author. Music will be provided.
