In Recognition of American Pharmacist Month, Winn-Dixie Offers Flu Vaccinations and Wellness Screenings

In celebration of American Pharmacist Month, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc.(NASDAQ:WINN), has rolled out a month-long program offering customers flu and pneumonia vaccinations. Customers using their Winn-Dixie Customer Reward Card will pay $28 for the flu vaccine ($30 for non-cardholders) and $38 for the pneumonia vaccine ($45 for non-cardholders). The grocer is also offering free cholesterol and diabetes screenings at its more than 400 in-store pharmacies.

“Winn-Dixie wants to make a healthy lifestyle an easy choice for our customers,” said Michael LeBlanc, director of pharmacy. “Offering these vaccines and free health screenings is one more way we are getting better at being a good neighbor to the communities we serve.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the most important step in protecting against the flu is to get vaccinated. The CDC recommends children 6 months – 5 years of age, pregnant women, people 50 years of age and older, and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease should be vaccinated each year. Both flu and pneumonia vaccines and the free health screenings will be administered by licensed professionals. No appointment is necessary. In addition to the programs being offered during American Pharmacist Month, Winn-Dixie also offers year-round, fast and easy prescription refills and transfers, convenient automatic refills, and low-cost health screenings, such as cholesterol, female and male wellness panels. With more than 400 pharmacy locations, many Winn-Dixie shoppers find it convenient to have their prescriptions filled while they do their weekly grocery shopping.
