GetWellNetwork Continues to Expand Pediatric Client Community and Improve the Patient and Family Experience With Interactive Bedside Technology
Salt Lake City, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ — NACHRI Annual Meeting, Booth #108 — GetWellNetwork, Inc., the innovator and leading provider of Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solutions, today announced that its pediatric client community has reached record growth during 2008. Designed to help hospitals educate, engage and empower pediatric patients and their families, the GetWellNetwork(R) PatientLife System(R) leverages interactive bedside technology to encourage children and their parents to become active participants in their own care process.
Three of the nation’s top children’s hospitals recently signed agreements to partner with GetWellNetwork to implement IPC through the PatientLife System, including:
-- Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Del. -- Disney Children's Hospital at Florida Hospital, Orlando, Fla. -- Miami Children's Hospital, Miami, Fla.
These recent partnerships represent the addition of more than 500 pediatric beds to the GetWellNetwork children’s hospital community. Continuing on this growth trajectory, GetWellNetwork plans to engage more than half a million pediatric patients and families in the care process by the end of 2009.
“Disney Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital, the first children’s hospital to bear the Disney name, will serve as a model for patient experience and state-of-the-art pediatric care,” said Marla Silliman, senior executive for Disney Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital. “GetWellNetwork’s innovative IPC technology combined with its commitment to empowering children and their families will help us reach that level of unparalleled care. We look forward to having this system available to every one of our patients.”
GetWellNetwork enables hospitals to provide an exceptional patient and family experience while improving the cost, quality and service of care delivery. By leveraging the GetWellNetwork PatientLife System, hospitals are able to empower patients and families by placing them at the center of their own care experience. The system transforms the television in the patient room into an interactive resource during a hospital stay. Through a wireless keyboard, touch screen or handheld device, patients can interact with the system to access valuable education resources, communication tools and entertainment options directly at the bedside.
Pediatric Asthma Video Suite
Earlier this year, GetWellNetwork announced a partnership with KidsHealth to co-develop a comprehensive suite of pediatric patient education content specifically designed for parents, children and teens. The KidsHealth patient education videos will be exclusively accessible through GetWellNetwork’s PatientLife System. The first suite of pediatric patient content, focusing on pediatric asthma, will be available in full in December 2008.
Pediatric Parental Controls
Continuing on GetWellNetwork’s dedication to delivering a personalized care experience to pediatric patients and their families, the new PatientLife System 3.0 features parental controls, designed to allow parents of young patients to determine access to the content their children are viewing on the GetWellNetwork system when they are not in the room. With a password, parents can log in from the GetWellNetwork Welcome Screen to an area where they can add or remove content items such as movies, games, Internet access and patient education prescriptions. The feature enables parents to effectively monitor content and customize the system to their children’s specific needs.
“The key factor that drew Miami Children’s Hospital to GetWellNetwork was its unique and innovative approach to pediatric patient care,” said Narendra Kini, MD, president and CEO of Miami Children’s Hospital. “No other IPC vendor understands the needs of children and their families as well as GetWellNetwork does. We are delighted to be part of the GetWellNetwork community.”
“We are both humbled and excited to welcome these three new client partners to GetWellNetwork’s pediatric community. Innovating patient care delivery to children is both a professional and personal passion, and fulfills our unwavering commitment to helping patients and families during life-defining moments,” said Michael O’Neil, Jr., founder and CEO of GetWellNetwork, Inc.
