LSUHCSD Selects IntelliDOT Modules for Patient Safety Initiative

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 October 2008, 12:00 CDT

Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division has selected wireless handheld solutions provider IntelliDOT's Bedside Medication Administration, Vital Signs Collection and Mother-Baby Breast Milk Matching modules as part of an enhanced patient safety initiative.

Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division (LSUHCSD) is a division of the Louisiana State University Health System, which consists of seven hospitals with 704 beds and 300 outpatient clinics.

According to the company, the IntelliDOT Bedside Medication Administration system is used to verify the five rights of medication administration: right medication, right dose, right route, right patient, and right time. Each nurse receives customized prompts and warnings to assure medications are administered and documented correctly.

Thomas Klopack, president and CEO of IntelliDOT, said: "LSUHCSD clinicians will be able to offer a new-to-the-industry level of patient safety at the bedside. With our industry leading adoption rates and ease of use, IntelliDOT helps prevent a variety of potential medication errors at the bedside so clinicians can provide even safer care while devoting more quality time to their patients."
