Summit to Highlight Patient-Centered Medical Home's Growing Appeal to Consumers, Employers and Policymakers
Posted on: Thursday, 16 October 2008, 12:00 CDT
The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC), a coalition of more than 240 major employers, consumer groups, organizations representing primary care physicians, and other stakeholders, will provide an update on the growing implementation and successes of the patient-centered medical home model on Friday, Oct. 17, at a national health care summit in Washington, DC. The Collaborative believes that the patient-centered medical home improves the health of patients and is an important component for reform of the current, dysfunctional health care delivery system.
This one-day summit will feature experts, including business and foreign leaders, policymakers and health officials, advocating the continued adoption of the patient-centered medical home model. Panel discussions, specifically, "Patient-Centered Care: The Consumer Experience" and "Financing the Patient-Centered Medical Home: Making the Investment in Primary Care." will focus on the past year's advances in implementing the patient-centered medical home.
Spanish Health Minister Bernat Soria and former United Kingdom Minister of State at the Department of Health Gerald Malone will share their experiences in patient-centered primary care abroad in "An International Perspective: The Success of the Patient-Centered Medical Home."
"Health Policy Reform: The Patient-Centered Medical Home as a Key Component" and "White House 2009: Incorporating the Patient-Centered Medical Home into a McCain or Obama Administration's Health Reform Agenda" will address how the patient-centered medical home model is a crucial component for reform of the American health care system, and specifically how the model has been adopted and would be implemented by both presidential candidates - featuring Health Policy Advisors from both presidential campaigns.
Space is limited, so please RSVP to reserve a media credential by contacting Joe Wagner at 202-572-2979 or joe.wagner@gmmb.com. A complete schedule for the Summit is listed below.
