Provectus Pharmaceuticals Announces Upcoming Investment Community Events

Posted on: Monday, 20 October 2008, 09:00 CDT

Provectus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (OTC BB: PVCT), a development-stage oncology and dermatology biopharmaceutical company, announced today that it's Chairman and CEO, Craig Dees, Ph.D., will be participating in several investment community events over the next two months.

-- Dr. Dees will host a luncheon meeting on October 29 at 12:00 P.M. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois.

-- Dr. Dees will present at the Wall Street Analyst Forum in New York City, from November 17-19 at the University Club, 1 W 54th St.

-- Dr. Dees will present at the 12th Annual New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) Biotechnology/Specialty Pharmaceutical Industry Conference in New York City from December 2-3 (location to be determined).

Dr. Dees said, "As Provectus continues to make significant strides in developing our oncological and dermatological therapies, we continue to strive to increase investor awareness and visibility of the Company. We recently announced that the interim safety analysis on the first 20 subjects in our phase 2 clinical trial for the treatment of metastatic melanoma has been completed. PV-10 injection was well tolerated by this group, with an adverse event profile similar to that observed in phase 1. In addition, long-term survival data for subjects participating in the phase 1 trial suggests that the response of treated lesions may be a good predictor of long-term outcome."

The lead investigator for Provectus' Phase 2 melanoma study, Professor John F Thompson, MD, commented on how after 32 subjects have been treated, the interim phase 2 data was consistent with the findings from the phase 1 study, where PV-10 was well tolerated. In oncology, objective response is achieved when a subject's lesions shrink or disappear, while disease control includes those subjects whose lesions remain constant in size. In fact, the phase 2 protocol allows for treating the lesions more than once, therefore its expected that the outcome of the treatment would be even better than that observed in phase 1, where 40% of subjects achieved an objective response in their treated lesions, and 75% achieved loco-regional disease control.

Craig Dees, Ph.D., has spent more than 20 years in senior management positions at Provectus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Photogen Technologies, Inc.; the Oak Ridge National Laboratory; LipoGen, Inc.; and TechAmerica, Inc. Dees was a founder, senior scientist and founding director of Photogen before Provectus was formed. His responsibilities have included product design and development in the fields of ethical vaccines, cosmetics, human diagnostics and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.
