PatientFlow Technology (www.patientflowtech.com), the leading provider of patient flow management tools and services for hospitals, today announced that its Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, Christy Dempsey, RN, MBA, CNOR, will co-present, "Managing Variability in Perioperative Service: The Next Steps," at the Managing Today's OR Suite Conference on Wednesday, October 29 at the Gaylord National in Washington, D.C. Ted Shockley, RN, CNRN, director of perioperative services, St. John's Regional Hospital, and Dr. Kenneth Larson, trauma/general surgeon, burn director, St John's Health System, will join Ms. Dempsey.
"Managing variability in patient flow is receiving more attention as capital budgets and revenues shrink, the nursing shortage continues and regulatory agencies focus on quality, safety and efficiencies. In addition, patients are demanding better quality and service. Peaks and valleys in patient census can no longer be accommodated," said Ms. Dempsey. "This presentation will address variability in flow, staffing patterns and materials management. We will describe proven methods to decrease and eliminate the variability. The discussion will look at how two hospitals have embarked upon a significant and successful performance and quality improvement strategy. In case study format, participants will learn how managing variability in patient flow can improve their organizations."
