Posted on: Tuesday, 28 October 2008, 15:00 CDT

Cayenne Medical, Inc., a privately held sports medicine company based in Scottsdale, announced today that it has become the first medical device industry partner of VuMedi, a "YouTube-style" site dedicated to furthering the education of orthopedic surgeons.

Video footage of Cayenne Medical's lead technology, the AperFix System is currently featured on the site for surgeons to view. The AperFix System enables surgeons to perform a revolutionary surgical procedure resulting in complete reconstruction of the torn ACL. The AperFix System, which offers a strong fixation option in an intuitive to use design, addresses limitations of other existing products and facilitates anatomic ACL reconstruction utilizing the Single Tunnel, Double Bundle(TM) technique.

VuMedi is a surgeon-only video sharing website where clinicians can view, upload, and discuss surgical videos they have posted. It is used for educational purposes and features on-demand streaming videos of actual surgical procedures.

"We're very proud to be associated with VuMedi and to become the site's first industry partner," said James W. Hart, President and CEO of Cayenne Medical. "Our support of the VuMedi site and concept is an example of our commitment to the orthopedic market we serve and to surgeon education, especially regarding groundbreaking new treatment technologies."

The VuMedi homepage is located at www.vumedi.com. Cayenne's videos on VuMedi are available to surgeons at http://www.vumedi.com/profile/CayenneMedical.
