Axolotl’s Elysium E-Prescribing Solution Receives SureScripts-RXHub Medication History Certification
Axolotl, the nation’s leading provider of health information exchange (HIE) solutions, announced today SureScripts-RxHub 4.10 Medication History certification for Elysium. Elysium, available as a standalone electronic prescription management system or as part of Axolotl’s EMR Lite, is fully integrated with Elysium Exchange — providing RHIO, hospital, IPA, and medical group customers with complete interoperability between all types of legacy systems and physician EMRs.
Clinicians using the Elysium Exchange have access to complete patient information — allergies, prescription “favorites”, interaction checking, alerts, formularies, drug benefits, and decision support as well as de-duplicated medication history from all participants in the exchange. The bi-directional, electronic connection to SureScripts-RxHub provides a complete medication history from all pharmacies in their Pharmacy Health Information Network. Physicians can reconcile the medication profile, with their patients; create new prescriptions which are then sent electronically to pharmacy computer systems — before a patient leaves the physician’s office. Prescription refill requests are electronically processed via the Elysium Exchange instead of their fax machines. Refill authorizations or denials can then be electronically communicated back to the pharmacy with a just a few clicks of a mouse, thereby eliminating many of the faxes and phone calls associated with the traditional refill process.
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) reported that more than 1.5 million Americans are injured every year by medication errors. Using Elysium EMR Lite, physicians have patient information received from all collaborators of care and can write a prescription from any patient information field — lab results, problem lists, visit history information, etc.
“Having patient medication history from national pharmacies in addition to that already available from our local pharmacies and physicians on the Elysium Exchange, moves us by leaps and bounds to a safer prescribing environment,” said Bill Beighe, CIO of Physicians Medical Group in Santa Cruz, CA. “Elysium enhances our patient safety and quality of care mission in addition to enabling our IPA to measure electronic prescription usage, alerts generated and interactions avoided.”
“Our objective is to provide clinicians at the point of care with all the information they need to create safe and accurate prescriptions for the patient, as efficiently as possible. And we do so — at no extra cost,” shared Ray Scott, CEO of Axolotl.
