U.S. President George W. Bush conferred Purple Hearts to six wounded military personnel Monday at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
The president's visit to the hospital on the eve of Veterans' Day came on the 233rd birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.
After leaving the hospital Bush said he was inspired by what he saw.
"It's inspiring to see the hard work," Bush said. "It's also inspiring to see the courage of the patients."
Bush said he met several men during a visit six months ago and saw them Monday and "they're totally different looking people. That's because of the good healthcare ... and because of their mental framework."
