Patients Now Can Find the Lowest Cost Medicare Part D Prescription Plans Best for Them Just By Visiting a Rite Aid Pharmacy

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 November 2008, 12:00 CST

Making decisions on Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans can be confusing. That's why this year all Rite Aid pharmacies are offering patients free printed reports on the three lowest-cost plans best for their current medication needs. A free guide to Medicare Part D Plans is also available in stores and online, and patients and caregivers can check out details of all plans available in their area at www.riteaid.com/medicareadvisor.

Rite Aid pharmacists are specially trained to counsel patients and answer any questions whether patients are eligible for Medicare Part D coverage for the first time or are looking for a plan better than their current plan. Those eligible for the Medicare Part D benefit include people over age 65 and people with disabilities.

Rite Aid's free Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Guide contains information and suggestions to help pick the plan that best suits their individual prescription needs.

www.riteaid.com/medicareadvisor allows patients or their caregivers to get a detailed comparison of all available plans, including drug prices, deductibles and monthly premiums so patients can compare plans side by side. The Web site also includes general information on the 2009 Part D program, including registration deadlines and how the plan works.

"At Rite Aid, we're committed to making sure our patients understand all of their options under the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit," said Bill Wolfe, Rite Aid group vice president of pharmacy. "We're providing tools online and in store, and our pharmacists and pharmacy staff are eager to help beneficiaries use these valuable resources."

Rite Aid also offers its senior customers additional benefits through its free loyalty program Living More. Living More members receive a 20 percent discount on purchases the first Tuesday of every month and 10 percent discount on the other Tuesdays of the month (some limitations apply, see store for details), a 10 percent discount on cash prescriptions every day (not available in California due to state law), a 10 percent discount on Rite Aid Brand products everyday and exclusive specials throughout the store. Living More currently has nearly 4 million enrolled members, and membership is free at any Rite Aid pharmacy counter or by visiting www.riteaid.com.

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) is one of the nation's leading drugstore chains with more than 4,900 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia with fiscal 2008 annual sales of more than $24.3 billion. Information about Rite Aid, including corporate background and press releases, is available through the company's website at http://www.riteaid.com.
