Aetna Names Lonny Reisman, M.D. As Chief Medical Officer
Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that it has appointed Lonny Reisman, M.D., 53, as Chief Medical Officer. Reisman is the CEO and co-founder of ActiveHealth Management, now an Aetna subsidiary. He will join Aetna's management executive committee.

Dr. Reisman's visionary leadership in health information technology, patient safety and evidence-based medicine will help us advance our strategy."Reisman replaces Troyen A. Brennan, M.D, who is leaving Aetna. Williams said, "We appreciate Dr. Brennan's contributions and look forward to working with him in his new role at CVS Caremark."
Dr. Reisman has served as ActiveHealth Management's CEO and as a director of that company since October 1998. The CareEngine(R) System is ActiveHealth's patented clinical decision support technology. The CareEngine continuously gathers the medical, pharmacy and laboratory claims data for patients and compares it against the latest findings in evidence-based literature. The results are provided on a priority basis to physicians and their patients to help them better manage care.
Reisman was a principal in the Managed Care Group at William M. Mercer from 1991 to 1998, where he led numerous consulting engagements with Fortune 500 corporations, health care providers, suppliers and payers. He was an attending physician at New York Hospital and St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center between 1987 and 1999. From 1987 to 1990, he was a consultant on the corporate medical staff to Merrill Lynch, was a cardiology fellow at the University of Chicago from 1985 to 1987, and an intern and resident at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center in New York from 1981 to 1984.
Dr. Reisman received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Tel Aviv University, respectively, and has been published in numerous medical journals.
