Advanced Communication Tools Help Patients and Physicians Connect
Posted on: Wednesday, 12 November 2008, 18:00 CST
The Mark H. Zangmeister Center in central Ohio recently partnered with NotifyMD to help increase patient and physician satisfaction using Web-based communication tools. By using NotifyMD's Daytime and After-Hours Communication Solutions, every patient call is answered with a live voice operator, voicemail is nearly eliminated, and response times are increased. The solutions are customized to fit specific physician protocols and the center's dynamic needs.
The Zangmeister Center delivers a full spectrum of outpatient services to patients with cancer and blood disorders and has 16 physicians providing care. According to Glenn Balasky, executive director, "Our challenge is that we receive nearly 5,000 calls a day that need to reach specific staff members who face many situations where the phone is ringing but they also have a patient in front of them. By having NotifyMD handle daytime scheduling and other non-urgent calls, our staff members can better address patient visit needs first and phone call needs second. And NotifyMD's Web-based system allows us to track what calls were returned as well as how promptly."
Balasky also stated that NotifyMD's After-Hours service is vital to helping them connect patients with the right physicians on call. Nurses are able to review the calls the next morning and assure clinicians that all non-urgent patient requests have been followed up.
Bradley Towle, NotifyMD's senior vice president of communications workflow consulting, says, "We are very excited to be part of The Zangmeister Center's leading position in patient communication. They have extended their renowned caring and compassionate approach to include improving patient convenience with a high tech/high touch collaborative solution to telephonic communication."
