IDEXX Laboratories Names William Brown Corporate Vice President

WESTBROOK, Maine, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDXX), today announced the appointment of William E. Brown, PhD as Corporate Vice President, Instrument Research and Development (R&D) and Manufacturing. In this capacity, Dr. Brown will oversee instrument development, manufacturing, and the worldwide supply network.

"Bill's extensive R&D and manufacturing management experience is distinctively relevant to IDEXX's strategy of technological innovation in diagnostics and information technology," said Jonathan Ayers, Chairman and CEO. "He brings a unique combination of expertise in several functions, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance for both life science and instrument systems."

Dr. Brown comes to IDEXX having retired in 2007 from his position as Corporate Officer, Vice President of R&D, Assays and Systems for the Diagnostic Division of Abbott Laboratories, Inc. During his twenty-five years with Abbott, Dr. Brown held various senior leadership positions, including oversight of the R&D portfolio development, new product launches, and basic research for immunoassay and clinical chemistry and instrument systems.

Dr. Brown earned his BS in chemistry education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy.
