Dr. Charles Kennedy, Vice President of Health Information Technology for WellPoint, Inc., to Present Today at The 4th Annual World Healthcare Innovation and Technology Congress (WHIT v.4.0)

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charles D. Kennedy, MD, Vice President of Health Information Technology for WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE: WLP) will present today at The 4th Annual World Healthcare Innovation and Technology Congress (WHIT v.4.0), which is expected to convene with over 400 health care executives to discuss the next generation of healthcare innovation and technology.

Dr. Kennedy's presentation, entitled "E-Prescribing: An Early Health Information Exchange Tool," will discuss how e-Prescribing offers a path to help reduce the underlying cost of care, improve quality and safety, and reduce administrative costs by helping physicians, patients, and all care givers make better decisions using evidence based medicine. Dr. Kennedy, as a member of the keynote reactor panel, will also be part of the keynote session focused on the importance of partnering with the consumer for better health by providing the health plan industry's perspective.

At WellPoint, Dr. Kennedy is responsible for building technical solutions which leverage health plan data sets to help improve patient care. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Kennedy has deployed several advanced health IT tools and was responsible for helping with strategic acquisitions and investments in companies that focus on healthcare technology.
