Courage Center Transitional Rehabilitation Program to Participate in Learning Collaborative With Stratis Health

Posted on: Thursday, 11 December 2008, 12:20 CST

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Courage Center's Transitional Rehabilitation Program, which is licensed as a nursing home, has been selected as a member of the Stratis Health 2008-2011 Technical Assistance Group, a learning collaborative made up of 20 Minnesota nursing homes. The work is supported by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and is being led by Stratis Health, Minnesota's Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO).

Courage Center will participate in quality improvement activities and interventions to improve the lives of the people who live in their nursing homes with specific focus on reducing pressure ulcers and physical restraints. Organizational culture change will be at the heart of this work and best practices will be shared with the Minnesota nursing home community over the next few years.

"Being a part of this group gives us the opportunity to focus even more intently on improving the lives of the clients we serve," said William Lindberg, director, Transitional Rehabilitation Program, Courage Center.

"CMS has made transformational quality improvement a priority across the country, and this is such exciting work that we are able to continue as the QIO with nursing homes in Minnesota," said Jane Pederson, M.D., director, Medical Affairs, Stratis Health.
