The Melvin and Elaine Wolf Foundation Donates $10,000 to arc Thrift Stores

DENVER, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For the past 40 years, arc Thrift Stores has been dedicated to the support of individuals with developmental disabilities. This week, The Melvin and Elaine Wolf Foundation graciously donated $10,000 to arc Thrift Stores' "Working with a Purpose" program. "As one of the larger employers of people with disabilities in the state, we are proud to partner with The Melvin and Elaine Wolf Foundation to provide vocational opportunities and work experience training for people with developmental disabilities. This donation will go a long way in furthering this initiative," said Lloyd Lewis, President/CEO of arc Thrift Stores.

Thousands of people in Denver alone live with physical and cognitive disabilities. One in every 800 children is born each year with Down syndrome, three out of 1,000 have Cerebral Palsy and one out of 150 children are autistic. arc Thrift Stores and its 11-advocacy chapters share the belief that, with appropriate learning and living environments, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can realize their goals of where and how they live, learn, work and play.

For many years, Sandy and Elaine Wolf have been gracious members of the Denver community. Since establishing The Elaine and Melvin Wolf Foundation, Sandy and Elaine Wolf have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local charities, educational institutions and hospitals throughout Denver. Because of Elaine and Melvin Wolf's commitment to helping others, Elaine and Melvin Wolf received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from Rose Hospital. The outpatient surgery building at Rose is named in their honor.

Lloyd Lewis went on to say, "Without the support of people like Sandy and Elaine Wolf, arc Thrift Stores would be very limited in the assistance we provide to individuals with developmental disabilities. Because of the communities continuing generosity, we have been able to provide support services to thousands and thousands of individuals and families over the past 40 years."
