Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. Announces 2008 Grant Recipients

Charity's annual giving totaled over $300,000 in 2008

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC(R)) of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. today announced that more than $300,000 in grants has been awarded to local nonprofit organizations throughout 2008. These grants provided support to programs aimed at improving the health and well being of children throughout the Delaware Valley.

"The generosity of charities is needed now more than ever," said John Durante, McDonald's Owner/Operator and president of RMHC of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. "As part of our heritage, McDonald's is committed to providing support where it is needed most throughout our communities."

The organizations that received support from RMHC of the Philadelphia Region in 2008 include:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Vineland, Vineland, N.J.
  • Capital Health System, Camden, N.J.
  • Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia
  • Delaware Futures, Wilmington, Del.
  • EducationWorks, Lawrenceville, N.J.
  • The Elizabeth W. Murphey School, Dover, Del.
  • Field of Dreams, Pleasantville, N.J.
  • Hammerheads Sled Hockey Association, Inc., Philadelphia
  • John Paul II Center for Special Learning, Shillington, Pa.
  • Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center, Turnersville, N.J.
  • Maternity Care Coalition, Philadelphia
  • Ronald McDonald Camp, Philadelphia
  • St. Mary Medical Center Foundation, Langhorne, Pa.
  • Virtua Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Holly, N.J.
  • Women Against Abuse, Philadelphia

RMHC of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. awards grants to nonprofit programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Locally, RMHC supports the Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Delaware Ronald McDonald Houses, in addition to the St. Christopher's Foundation Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
