Reducing Complications, Risk of Infection
The Comprehensive Wound Care Center at Baylor Dallas provides specialized wound care services, with an emphasis on using evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and providing coordinated care that lasts beyond the patient's visits to the center. Research shows that comprehensive wound care can reduce the risk of infection or other complications for patients with chronic non-healing wounds.
Typical wounds treated at the center include diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing surgical sites, pressure ulcers, burns and arterial ulcers. A multidisciplinary team, consisting of physicians on the medical staff, nurses, technicians, dietitians and care coordinators, prepare and implement personalized treatment plans for patients. Treatment can include specialized dressings, specialized outer wraps, debridement, bio-synthetic grafts and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Patients give high marks to the Comprehensive Wound Care Center, with 94 percent stating they would likely recommend the center to others.
