eGuiding Across Locations as an mLearning Solution
(IHG) once again teamed up with the Venza Group (VLS). The latest
collaboration, an mLearning solution, saw the deployment of IHG electronic
job-aids, or eGuides, for mobile devices. Now, hotel employees across
America
strategically crafted with chunks of the right information at the right time,
from any location. eGuides effectively present training content via smart
design, flawless development and an engaging graphic user interface. The Venza
Group’s eGuide Technology also allows for rapid deployment in a variety of
languages. For example, IHG contracted the Venza Group to develop 16 eGuides
in English, Spanish and French in 2008.
Intended to provide application training modules for playback on the iPod
Touch, the IHG/Venza Group mLearning solution superbly serves the training
needs of the hotel industry whose rank-and-file already use mobile devices
(i.e. cellular phones, handhelds, iPods). And they’re not alone. According to
an IBM study in October of 2008, mobile device usage is expected to surge from
50% to 80% by 2013. That’s approximately 5.8 billion people! mLearning brings
content to staff members where they are and when they need it most. Deploying
eGuides as reinforcements to training initiatives is the ideal application of
mLearning.
