Hospital Association Names New Chairman, Appoints Board Officers and New Members

PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- John T. Gribbin of Clarksburg, president and CEO of CentraState Healthcare System in Freehold, today was installed as chairman of the board of the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA), a 107-member advocacy organization. The chairman's official installation, as well as the appointment of new board members, was held during NJHA's 90th Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Princeton.

"Here in our state, the enormous problems faced by our facilities sometimes overshadow the heroic work performed in our hospitals every day. The way we deliver healthcare is just no longer good enough. That is why we are entering, and we must enter, our season of change. If we don't change ourselves, we will be changed by forces outside of our control. We must seek to create new models of care delivery that recognize our new realities, and I am confident we are all up to the challenge," said Gribbin.

Under the chairmanship of Gribbin, the following officers of the NJHA board also were appointed: Secretary Joseph P. Coyle of Cedar Run, Southern Ocean County Hospital; Treasurer Audrey Meyers of Ridgewood, Valley Health System; Vice Chairman Thomas Biga of Fairhaven, Clara Maass Medical Center; and Chairman-elect Alexander J. Hatala of Mount Laurel, Lourdes Health System.

The following healthcare leaders were appointed as new board members: Joseph F. Scott of Jersey City, LibertyHealth; Joseph A. Trunfio of Boonton Township, Atlantic Health; William F. Owen, MD, of South Orange, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; Ronald C. Rak of Lebanon, Saint Peter's Healthcare System; William A. McDonald of Edgewater, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center; Amy Haskel of Basking Ridge, Morristown Memorial Hospital; Leslie D. Hirsch of Denville, St. Clare's Health System; and Rajendra Prasad Gupta, MD, of Princeton, the Medical Society of New Jersey.

The New Jersey Hospital Association, based in Princeton, is the statewide advocate for its 107 member hospitals and the patients they serve.
