Carefx Reports 200% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth in 2008 as Demand Grows for Solutions Focused on Clinical Decision Making

HIE and hospital IT pioneer doubles annual revenues, brings on hundreds of new provider organizations

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Carefx Corporation today announced 200 percent revenue growth in 2008. Carefx has increased its penetration of the hospital, health system, integrated delivery network (IDN) and health information exchange (HIE) markets with an 80 percent increase in client bookings and the addition of some 200 hospitals to its already impressive roster.

Hurd's comments are echoed in a January 9, 2009 National Research Council (NRC) report, which offers a critical evaluation of current healthcare IT solutions' performance in the areas of data sharing, integration and management. NRC's Computational Technology for Effective Health Care: Immediate Steps and Strategic Directions advises organizations to "develop the necessary data infrastructure for healthcare improvement by aggregating data concerning people, processes and outcomes from all sources" and to "organize incentives, roles, workflow, processes and supporting infrastructure to encourage, support and respond to opportunities for clinical performance gains."
