Orthopaedic Surgeon Kevin Smith, MD, Joins Northwest Hospital & Medical Center and The Sports Medicine Clinic

SEATTLE, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Northwest Hospital & Medical Center and The Sports Medicine Clinic are pleased to announce that board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Kevin L. Smith, MD has joined the medical staff. He brings nearly fifteen years of experience with a special expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. He completed an internship in family medicine at Southern Illinois University Affiliated Hospitals, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at McLaren Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Following his residency, he developed his specialization further with a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.

After completing his training, Dr. Smith spent more than a decade at the University of Washington Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine as an Associate Professor active in teaching, research, patient care, and administration. He then spent three years at Group Health prior to joining Northwest Hospital.

Dr. Smith is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. His professional interests include treatment of patients of all ages with elbow and shoulder conditions such as arthritis, rotator cuff disease, instability, stiffness and fractures. He has lectured and published widely.
