SEIU and Allies challenge legislators to “Walk a Day” in the shoes of those who see first-hand impact of budget delays and cuts

Friday’s event will kick off a full-scale effort by SEIU members and those they serve to break the political log-jam that threatens child care providers, seniors, people with disabilities, college students, and families in crisis.
Beginning
- College students will miss their grants.
- People with developmental disabilities will see their support systems stressed and endangered.
- Child care providers will go unpaid and many will go out of business, which will affect thousands of working families.
- Families stressed by unemployment and the faltering economy will have less support as counties’ ability to provide services will be compromised
- Low-income seniors, the blind, and people with disabilities face an uncertain future in regard to basic necessities.
SEIU members and allies will challenge legislators and the Governor to Walk a Day in their shoes in order to understand the effect of payment delays and budget cuts.
