Cleveland Clinic and Mubadala Healthcare Name CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Andrew Fishleder, M.D. Has a Thirty-Year History With Cleveland Clinic

CLEVELAND and ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleveland Clinic (USA) and Mubadala Healthcare (Abu Dhabi) have appointed Andrew Fishleder, M.D. to hold the position of Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Scheduled to open in 2012, the 360-bed multi-specialty hospital will be a unique and unparalleled extension of the Cleveland Clinic model. The hospital is a vital part of Mubadala Healthcare's strategy to build an integrated healthcare delivery network.

Dr. Fishleder assumed responsibility for the overall operations of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi on January 1, 2009. As construction is currently underway, he is focusing on the implementation of the systems, procedures, guidelines and standards for the hospital as an extension of Cleveland Clinic's model of medicine and clinical capabilities in the Middle East.

Dr. Fishleder was instrumental in the development of Cleveland Clinic's Education Institute, which he recently led as its Chairman. In addition, Dr. Fishleder served as Executive Dean of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Beginning his medical career as a pathologist at Cleveland Clinic in 1978, he has held various leadership and executive positions, and serves as a member of the Cleveland Clinic's Board of Governors and has been a member of the institution's Medical Executive Committee since 1991.
