Central DuPage Hospital Wins State Approval to Build Cancer Center

All Outpatient Oncology Services will be Relocated to Adjacent Proton Site in Warrenville

CHICAGO, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) received Illinois state approval on its plans to build a comprehensive outpatient cancer treatment and imaging center in Warrenville. The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board (IHFPB), in a unanimous vote of 4-0, approved the project's Certificate of Need application during today's meeting. Construction is expected to commence in late spring of this year and patients are expected to be treated in the new center by summer of 2010.

The new center will offer cancer patients the opportunity to receive all of their outpatient cancer care and related support services in a single, convenient location. Services available at the center will include physician services, on-site oncology pharmacists, chemotherapy, radiation therapy as well as all the necessary support services including diagnostic imaging, nutritional counseling, social work services, genetic counseling, and image-renewal services. Support groups, patient education and prevention programs, research and community outreach activities will also be available at the center.

Loyola University has recently entered into a 10-year clinical affiliation agreement for oncology services with CDH. Loyola medical oncologists have established a practice at CDH and will be among the physicians available to deliver medical oncology to patients at the center. The CDH-Loyola relationship will also allow for clinical research and clinical trials to be conducted in the local community, bringing a new level of academic clinical research to cancer care in the western suburbs.

The new cancer treatment center will be built on Weaver Parkway between Interstate-88 and West Diehl Road in Warrenville, Illinois.
