Turner Reaches Milestone on $323 Million Virtua West Jersey Replacement Hospital in Voorhees, N.J.

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ — Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of healthcare facilities, has topped out the $323 million state-of-the-art Greenfield replacement hospital for Virtua Health. Turner is serving as the construction manager for the project that is scheduled for completion in 2011.

The 690,000-sq.-ft. hospital will incorporate advanced technologies in order to ensure quality clinical services and patient safety, an assurance of privacy, set in a healing environment. Upon completion, the facility will feature an eight-story, 364,000 sq. ft. inpatient pavilion containing 360 beds, and a five-story, 298,000 sq. ft. support services building.

The building’s layout is designed to increase hospital efficiency, enabling the healthcare staff to spend more time with patients. The facility will also incorporate new digital technologies, including computerized patient rooms with beds that monitor patient vital signs, the ability to convert rooms to intensive care units and the use of electronic medical records.

The hospital’s design and commitment to promote healing extends to the campus grounds as well. The new Greenfield replacement hospital campus will feature ponds, fountains and landscaped areas adjacent to the buildings and walkways that lead through the campus gardens. In addition, the site’s existing natural wetlands will be preserved, further enhancing the campus environment.
