Franco Nuschese Tapped by Robert C. Gallo Foundation for AIDS and Virus Research

BALTIMORE, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Robert C. Gallo Foundation for AIDS and Virus Research today announced the appointment of Franco Nuschese as director of international relations. The foundation supports Dr. Gallo and his colleagues, who are internationally known for expertise in HIV prevention, treatment and care. The foundation also supports other organizations producing groundbreaking HIV research.

"It is an honor to have a person of Franco's caliber spearheading the foundation's International Relations department," said Dr. Gallo, who is most widely known as co-discoverer of the HIV virus and developer of the first HIV blood test. "Franco will be a superb liaison in raising awareness among global organizations and foreign governments about our ongoing work -- including laboratorial research and clinical care to more than 5,000 Baltimoreans and 250,000 Africans."

In his new role, Nuschese will connect those around the world who wish to see an end to the AIDS epidemic, with the researchers who can bring this result to fruition. He will provide excellent opportunities for international governments to build capacity in the area of biomedical research, prevention and treatment. Nuschese brings decades of international relations experience to the Foundation, having built core relationships with heads of state and key governmental leaders of multiple countries, including the United States.
