Unison Health Plan of Ohio Accredited by NCQA
Assurance (NCQA) has awarded Unison Health Plan of Ohio Accreditation as a New
Health Plan for its Medicaid program through
more than 100,000 members.
NCQA Accreditation is based on how well a health plan ensures that its
members get high-quality care. Accreditation evaluates not only the health
plan’s core systems and processes, but also the results that the plan actually
achieves on key dimensions of care and service. NCQA’s New Health Plan
Accreditation program applies to health plans that are less than 36 months
old. The program is distinct from NCQA’s Health Plan Accreditation program.
“This kind of success is the direct result of our true dedication to
quality,” said Ohio Health Plan President
The NCQA review process is rigorous, consisting of both on- and off-site
evaluations conducted by teams of physicians and managed care experts. A
national oversight committee analyzes the team’s findings and assigns an
accreditation level based on the plan’s compliance with NCQA’s standards and
its performance relative to other plans.
Bowers added, “We are pleased to have NCQA’s independent recognition of
the quality care and service we offer
value we bring to the State and its taxpayers. The NCQA Accreditation is one
indication of our success in facilitating quality care for our members.”
The Unison Health Plans were acquired by AmeriChoice in May, 2008.
