Moose Launch Organization's Own 'Economic Stimulus Plan'

Posted on: Friday, 27 February 2009, 08:00 CST

MOOSEHEART, Ill., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- At a time when more and more people are in need, the number of people seeking volunteer opportunities has spiked. To encourage people to get involved in volunteer opportunities, Moose International, the fraternal organization with nearly 1.2 million men and women members, has announced the "Moose Economic Stimulus Plan".

For the first time in its 121-year history, the Moose organization will institute a $0 enrollment fee for membership applications accepted between March 1 and April 30, 2009.

"People have continued to join our organization for the numerous opportunities we offer to volunteer in their communities and to help people in need," said Bill Airey, CEO, Moose International. "Now, at a time when people are suffering and have to make difficult decisions about where to cut spending, we decided to waive our application fee so people interested in the organization can continue to take advantage of tremendous benefits," said Airey.

The men and women of the Moose continually cite the organization's many volunteer opportunities as the primary reason they join the organization. In fact, Moose members conduct more than $90 million worth of community service programs annually. In addition to the charitable work opportunities, the Moose organization provides its members with low-cost meals and entertainment, discounts on prescriptions, life insurance, eye care, car insurance, travel expenses, and more.

Moose International is an international membership organization of roughly 1.2 million men and women dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together and celebrating life. The Moose organization maintains more than 1,800 Moose Centers across the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Bermuda, providing members with family-oriented social, dining and sports activities. The Moose organization's main endeavors include Mooseheart Child City & School, a residential community and school for children whose families are unable to care for them; and Moosehaven, a Florida retirement community for senior members in need. Children at Mooseheart, located outside of Chicago, receive the nurturing home, spiritual development and solid education they need to reach their full potential through a variety of innovative, nationally-recognized educational and family-living programs.
