Bill Would Require Nutrition Info on Chain Restaurant Menus and Menu Boards, Says Center for Science in the Public Interest

News Conference on Tuesday, March 3 in Annapolis

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Supporters of legislation that would require nutrition information on chain restaurant menus and menu boards in Maryland will hold a news conference at noon on Tuesday in Annapolis, Md. Following the news conference a hearing on the measure will be held in the House Health and Government Operations Committee.

What: News conference announcing introduction of House Bill 601. The legislation would require calories on menu boards used by fast-food chains, and calories, saturated plus trans fat, carbohydrates, and sodium on printed menus at sit-down chain restaurants like Applebee’s or Olive Garden. (The bill would not apply to restaurants with fewer than 15 outlets). Chain restaurant foods with surprising calorie counts will be on display.
