bioPoint(TM) PID Wristband Software Improves Patient Identification Accuracy and Safety
Posted on: Thursday, 5 March 2009, 09:00 CST
The Joint Commission's #1 patient safety goal is to improve the accuracy of patient identification.(1) Hand-written ID bands are difficult to read and time-consuming to create. Condition or medication alerts are not readily visible. There is no back-up or redundancy in identification, like a photo.
bioPoint(TM) Patient Identification utilizes color photographs and bar codes to facilitate synchronization of patients and treatments, and address the "5-Rights of Medicine."
Bio-Optronics President & CEO,
Kerpelman notes, "An important feature is the full wristband drag and drop design capability. And, the software integrates with HIS and other hospital IT systems, so no duplicate manual data entry is required."
Badges are designed and configured through a graphical user interface, and options are unlimited. Intranet web-based access allows any authorized location to view patient lists, add alerts, and print wristbands. A database stores all information. The software can also handle chart, specimen, and medication labels, as well as visitor, parking, and staff badges.
bioPoint(TM) Patient Identification is a comprehensive wristband solution that improves patient safety and workflow at the point of care.
