AHIP Statement on White House Health Care Summit
Posted on: Thursday, 5 March 2009, 16:33 CST
"We were honored to participate in the White House Health Care Summit. By bringing together a broad range of policymakers and stakeholders for thoughtful discussion on access, cost, and quality, the President has initiated a transparent, inclusive reform process just as he pledged to the American people.
"We also were pleased to strongly support the recently enacted SCHIP legislation, as well as the health care safety net funding, health IT investments, and comparative effectiveness provisions in the President's economic recovery program.
"Health care reform is our top priority. Our Board has offered a comprehensive proposal that starts with us playing a leadership role in advocating for market reforms that ensure all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable health care coverage. We will continue to work with other stakeholders to achieve comprehensive health care reform, a goal which has eluded the country for more than a century."
