Gap Inc. donating portion of spring promotion

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 10 /PRNewswire/ — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) today announced a partnership with Gap Inc. through its Give & Get program, to raise funds for LLS’s blood cancer research, patient education and support initiatives.

LLS is one of six nonprofit organizations that Gap Inc. will partner with during the upcoming Give & Get promotion. For three days in March, Gap Inc. will provide its employees and a group of select customers with a 30 percent discount. Gap Inc. will donate 5 percent of the total Give & Get sales to the six nonprofits, with customers and employees deciding which nonprofit they would like to support. The discount can be shared with friends and family so that their purchases during the promotion will further support the selected nonprofit.

“For 60 years, LLS has been the first place to turn to when faced with blood cancer,” says Nancy L. Klein, LLS’s chief marketing and revenue officer. “The donations from Gap Inc.’s Give & Get program will be a great way for shoppers to support LLS’s ongoing commitment to help blood cancer patients live better, longer lives.”

The money will help LLS fund research seeking cures and better therapies for patients with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The promotion also will support such important services as educational workshops, family support groups, children’s programs and patient financial assistance.

“LLS fills such an important role in providing help and guidance to those touched by blood cancer,” says Bobbi Silten, Gap Foundation’s chief foundation officer. “All of us at Gap Inc. are proud to support essential nonprofit organizations like LLS, especially during these challenging times when they need our support most.”

In addition to LLS, the other nonprofit partners include Feeding America, Teach For America, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The Global Fund and World Wildlife Fund. The program, which began in 2008, has raised $4.3 million for nonprofit partners.
