The Partnership for a Drug-Free America Lauds Kerlikowske as New Director of Office of National Drug Control Policy

NEW YORK, March 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The nonprofit Partnership for a Drug-Free America supports President Obama and Vice President Biden in choosing Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske as the next Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

"Chief Kerlikowske's deep understanding of the broad-ranging impacts of substance abuse on public safety, communities and family health is a tremendous asset to ONDCP and the field," said Steve Pasierb, president of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. A 36-year veteran of law enforcement, Kerlikowske is steeped in drug enforcement and supply issues, and his work with nonprofit and community organizations including Fight Crime: Invest in Kids and The Salvation Army demonstrate his understanding of the importance of reducing demand for drugs in the United States and ensuring that help is available for those who need addiction treatment.
