Greenway Focuses on Solidifying Interoperability Standards within HIT Solutions to Help Improve Patient Care Throughout the Nation
Greenway's participation in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS marks the second year in a row the company has played a leading role to progress the industry's efforts. HIMSS helps promote interoperability advancements made within the healthcare industry that play a vital role in creating a nationwide system through which patient health information can be securely, efficiently and electronically exchanged. With this recent signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), these interoperability efforts are crucial steps in helping to establish widespread health information networks and better define for care providers the parameters surrounding "meaningful use."
During the HIMSS conference, Greenway(R) will demonstrate how its flagship integrated EHR, practice management and interoperability solution, PrimeSuite(R), meets several key functionalities that serve as the framework of an interoperable healthcare system.
One of the key components of interoperability is the ability to share information amongst disparate systems. Through the HIMSS demonstrations, Greenway will promote its functionality in Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS), which focuses on improvements made to medical repositories and registries. XDS ensures that repositories store documents in a consistent manner while the registry, which stores information about these documents, can be more easily located, selected and retrieved. XDS accepts a wide variety of documentation formats for medical records, without regard to content or design, enabling the integration process to function more smoothly and efficiently.
Greenway will also participate in several Retrieve Form for Data Capture (RFD) demonstrations, which set a standard for information exchange by employing a uniform method through which data is collected and shared. RFD facilitates the development of real world implementations or research integration into healthcare workflow, which will ultimately lead to a more seamless integration of healthcare. The data that is collected benefits the researchers, scientists and physicians who are trying to better understand and combat health issues and diseases.
