Aurora Health Care Breast Centers Receive National Recognition

Health system touts five of the first 23 recognized facilities.

MILWAUKEE, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Aurora Health Care is home to five breast centers out of the first 23 to be accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.

The first facility named in Wisconsin, was Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Aurora Sinai Medical Center, Aurora West Allis Medical Center and Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh have since been identified and account for five of the seven accredited breast centers in the state.

Each medical center voluntarily participated in a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance. During the survey process, the hospitals demonstrated compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating patients who have been diagnosed with breast disease. These standards include proficiency in center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.
