New Healthcare Services for Michigan

PORTAGE, Mich., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospital Network Healthcare Services (HNHS) has tapped SolCom, Inc. to launch a new Document Management Services Program for their partnering and non-partnering hospitals. The service was designed to help the Health Information Management (HIM) departments create a usable electronic record from their paper records.
Like others nation-wide, Michigan HIM departments deal with thousands of pieces of paper. Preparing these documents for storage remains a significant hurdle, especially if the documents need to be indexed for future reference. Until now, scanning and indexing multiple forms quickly and accurately required many hours of prepping and sorting.
By providing all of the hardware, software and staffing to get the documents into a usable record, SolCom will relieve HIM departments from such cumbersome and non-mission-centric duties. In addition, the program is wrapped into a budget-friendly structure which doesn't require a huge capital expenditure. HNHS saw this as a key benefit for their partnering and non-partnering Michigan hospitals. "We are pleased to add this program to our portfolio of shared services," says Loren Rhoad, Vice President of HNHS.
SolCom began offering these services so that hospitals, nation-wide could prepare for the EHR. "There's been an increasing push toward electronic records in the healthcare industry," said SolCom CEO Marv Addink. Many healthcare systems recognize that EHRs allow better patient care and increase the efficiency of healthcare workers, but few have the significant technical, capital, and time resources to implement such a system. Addink adds, "We felt HNHS fell right in line with our nation-wide efforts. And that is to allow small- to mid-sized hospitals to take advantage of industry-leading resources, which are usually only feasible with a large hospital's budget."
