ORLANDO, Fla., April 20 /PRNewswire/ — University of Phoenix has announced a partnership with the March of Dimes Florida Chapter, which will involve fundraising and volunteer efforts to support its March for Babies events on April 25. Additionally, the University is offering four full-tuition scholarships for students pursing either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to provide access to nursing education opportunities and ensure the future of quality healthcare in Florida.

Jodie Ploessl, regional vice president of University of Phoenix’s Southeast Region and board member for the March of Dimes Florida Chapter, was touched by the organization’s mission to give every baby a healthy start. The March of Dimes funds research, helps every mom have a full-term pregnancy, and gives support and comfort to families.
“University of Phoenix is an integral part of the Florida community, and we are excited to partner with the March of Dimes organization as a way to help our local families in need,” said Ploessl. “The babies in our community deserve a chance to be healthy and are the future students and leaders of tomorrow.”
University of Phoenix has participated in the March for Babies event across the state for the past two years, and last year alone the four Florida campuses raised more than $31,000 to benefit the babies in the state.

The deadline to submit scholarship applications is May 15, 2009. Recipients may attend class at one of its Florida campuses or online.
