Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Middlesex Hospital Renew Network Agreement

NORTH HAVEN and MIDDLETOWN, Conn., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Middlesex Hospital in Middletown announced today they have reached agreement on the continuation of their network arrangement. As a result, Middlesex Hospital will continue as a participating hospital in Anthem's networks without interruption.

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Middlesex Hospital that allows Anthem and the hospital to continue our valuable relationship," said David R. Fusco, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. "This long-term arrangement will continue to provide our members with access to quality health care at a market competitive cost."

"We have reached a fair solution for both parties," states Robert G. Kiely, CEO and president of Middlesex Hospital. "This agreement ensures that Anthem members can continue to access the quality services available at Middlesex Hospital under their in-network benefits."

As part of the agreement, Middlesex Hospital will continue to participate in Anthem's Quality-In-Sights(R): Hospital Incentive Program, a program designed to measure health care quality and to improve patient safety.
