TERI Offers Comprehensive Life Quality Plans to Families, Caregivers of People with Developmental Disabilities

The unique plans, available now through the TERI-led International Association for Life Quality (www.ialq.org), provide a highly detailed profile and "happiness" roadmap developed specifically for the family member with a disability. Gathered from a comprehensive two to three hour phone interview by experienced Life Quality assessors, the plan reports on a parent and/or primary care giver's experiences, expertise, and knowledge, as well as the subtle nuances distinctive to the individual for whom the plan is designed.
"Many parents find themselves continually starting at square one when working with new circle of support members such as new doctors, teachers and caregivers," says Dr.
Dr. DeZonia is the parent of a young adult son who has profound and multiple developmental disabilities. Her research has shown that the more a caregiver understands and can relate to the personality and highly unique needs of an individual, the better that care becomes.
Through its online academy, the Association will also offer certification for Special Needs Life Quality Coaches beginning in the third quarter of 2009. This specialized training and certification, also the first of its kind, was designed to further support families and those individuals with special needs in carrying out goals outlined in the Life Quality Plan(TM).
