It is important for consumers, the media, and all of those involved in the growing, producing and selling of BroccoSprouts(R) broccoli sprouts, licensed by Brassica Protection Products LLC, to know that BroccoSprouts are not implicated in this general advisory and are safe to consume. The FDA warning explicitly states that “other types of sprouts have not been implicated at this time.”
Brassica strictly requires that its growers follow all FDA guidance precisely to ensure the highest level of food safety practices in growing BroccoSprouts. The sprouts are grown under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and the Hazardous Analysis Critical Point Program (HACCP). BroccoSprouts seeds are sanitized before entering the growing process. Then every batch of sprouts is tested for E. coli 0157 and Salmonella before being shipped to the marketplace. If any possible contamination is found, the sprouts are destroyed. Brassica requires all of its growers to conduct regular food safety audits to ensure compliance with HACCP and GMP; Brassica itself conducts an additional independent audit to ensure strict compliance with the FDA guidance.
