Fargo Named 'America's Cleanest City' in American Lung Association's State of the Air Report

FARGO, N.D., April 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As cleanup from this year's record floods continue in the Fargo-Moorhead region, a new report from the American Lung Association is providing the city some badly needed good news. Fargo was the only city to be listed as the best cities for ozone pollution, short-term particle pollution and long-term particle pollution. According to the report, more than 40 million Americans live in areas that failed all three tests. The rest of the state earned 11 "A" grades for air quality.

"We are, of course, very proud to have some of the cleanest outdoor air quality in the nation, and we are taking steps to help keep our title as the cleanest city in America," said Valerie Kummer, coordinator of the Red River Valley Clean Cities Coalition and coordinator of the American Lung Association in North Dakota's Clean Air Choice program. "Those steps include supporting cleaner-burning fuels like E85 and biodiesel that can reduce ozone and particulate pollution in North Dakota."
