Transcervical sterilization involves the insertion of soft micro-inserts into the fallopian tubes via the cervix. These inserts promote a local inflammatory response, resulting in scar tissue that blocks the ova from being released or fertilized by sperm. This procedure has been growing in popularity as it is hormone free, can be done easily in a doctor’s office, and is an alternative to more invasive sterilization techniques such as surgical tubal ligation.
