University HealthSystem Consortium Selects Sodexo to Provide Food and Nutrition Services

OAK BROOK, Ill., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) today announced that it has awarded a 3-year agreement to one supplier, Sodexo Inc., based in Gaithersburg, Md, for food and nutrition services. The agreement, which has 2 optional 1-year renewal periods, became effective on May 1, 2009.

Sodexo is a leading provider of comprehensive management solutions for food and nutrition services to hospital patients, staff, and visitors. Services are focused in 5 key areas:

  • On-site management: Professional manager(s) placed at the facility
  • Food management process: Menu engineering and comprehensive buying program
  • Patient dining: Customizable, computerized 5-star menu
  • Retail concepts and brands: Signature and national brands include vegetarian, ethnic, regional, and wellness cuisine
  • Clinical nutrition: Registered dietitians to formulate and implement nutrition programs

The scope of services and areas of focus are customized based on the individual needs of each UHC member.
